We got a new car. Well, not new new, but new to me. I’ll skip the details for privacy reasons, but I can tell you this. It’s RED. “Of course,” said my son, “why wouldn’t it be?” It’s funny because every time I would think about car shopping, I kept picturing red ones and that’s what I ended up getting. No, I didn’t buy it because it’s red. I looked at a few–white, black, grey–and this one turned out to be the best deal. Low mileage, one owner, clean Carfax report, great condition.
Now because it’s red and has a little bit of gold pinstriping, I have referred to it as my Wonder Woman car so I’ve named it Diana Prince. (Go ahead and roll your eyes at me like my daughter did.) UPDATE: We decided to name the car Ruby instead. My daughter said it sounds like an old name and I reminded her that the car is old. It’s 11 years old which is like 66 in people years.)
We’re going to have so much freedom now. No more trying to cram all of my errands into one day. No more having to reschedule doctor and dentist appointments. I can run to the grocery store in the middle of the week. I can schedule (and keep) appointments when they are convenient for me. I have control over my own schedule again and it is an amazing feeling.
The kid is thrilled because we can now go do things more often. (“Like shopping,” she said.) I can get her involved in activities so she can make more friends and maybe not spend so much time on devices.
Best of all, we can actually get out of town! We’ve got a trip to Atlanta planned and I’m working on getting us to the beach again this summer. Yay!
That’s it for now, I’m sleep-deprived. There is not enough coffee in my veins for me to churn out a long blog post right now.
